Facebook is being sued again, this time under privacy law violations in the state of California (the same state that found OJ innocent and almost didn't send the Menendez Bros away for murdering their parents because they were 20+ year old orphans!). The lawsuit is on behalf of 5 people, 2 of whom are under the age of 13 when you have to be 13 to use facebook. From what I read the lawsuit will probably be dismissed.
But there is a lesson to be learned here for all trying to build online communities. You cannot please all of the people all of the time and when you don't a lawsuit is not beyond the realm of possibility. Facebook has endured more than its fair share of lawsuits and each time they have taken steps to prevent a repeat of lawsuits for similar circumstances.
As we build communities we have to remember to learn from mistakes and customer service issues and continually strive to make the communities we build better and stronger.
