When reassembling my computer to fix a defective power jack, I found my screen not working. At first, I had a dead screen, and then after reseating all ribbons/plugs/etc, I got this:

It's hard to see in this picture, but there's a vertical black bar in the right third of the screen. This is not dead pixel areas. When I boot from Windows XP's CD, that turns bright purple.

When I send it out to the monitor, I get this (normal):

I've come to the conclusion that it's either:
1. Some stupid little thing that isn't quite connected properly in the LCD. or
2. A failing LCD.

Has anyone else seen anything like this before? Is this an LCD inverter problem?
