My sister just shipped her Compaq Presario 701Z to me. She bought it at CompUSA 12/01. About 15 months later (it had a 1 yr warranty) the computer started locking up and crashing. It was taking to a repair shop at least 2x with no apparent resolution, and she had to use the "restore" cd's about every 6 months until she gave up on it.
NOW when I power on, I get the NO OPERATING SYSTEM message. When I try to use the restore CDs to do a factory restore, it takes CD1, then prompts me to enter. The machine "reboots" and again I get the NO OPERATING SYSTEM and I am unable to use CD2 or CD3.
HELP!
