I've had my HP for about 2 months now and the touchpad suddenly stopped working. I've tried a number of methods to try and fix it but I've had no luck. I've tried:

1. the fn + f7 function and also checked to ensure the touchpad is not turned off (no amber light)
2. Uninstalling the driver & downloading and reinstalling the one from the HP site
3. Uninstalling the driver & downloading and reinstalling the one from synaptics' site
4. Uninstalling the driver & letting windows seach and install a driver on start up
5. Doing a full system restore to its original factory settings

I assume that the touchpad is working properly since it is detected by windows so that the driver could be downloaded. Also, Synaptics PS / 2 Port Touchpad is listed under hardware when I go to Control Panel > Mouse but when I go to Device Settings the touchpad is not listed therefore I cannot enable it. I've also tried clicking the reset device button and still nothing. Can anyone help me fix this?
