Lap top was working fine until it completely lost power. Main batt was removed and cmos battery dead. Unit will boot into win 98 just fine, but keybd is not working. Mouse and mouse buttons OK. Sometimes I get a 301 (keybd error). Restarted in DOS mode, keybd still dead. Booted up to a DOS prompt, keybd dead.
If I remove the (new) cmos batt for a few mins, I'll get a 173 error (config data lost) and a 163 error (time/date not set) on boot up. When it takes me to the set time/date screen, the keybd works fine! The arrow buttons, # buttons, and enter button all work as normal. If I only get a 163 error, the keybd doesn't work at all when I enter the set time/date screen.
If I hold the F1 key down and power-up, it will enter the EZ setup mode so that proves the F1 key is working.
I don't know a lot abt computers, but it seems like after the config data is loaded, the keybd stops working.
I've been pulling my hair out for 3 days now. Anyone know what might be the problem??
