I hate it because it's hard for me to read. Now, I SUCK at all aspects of english and writing but at least I try.

You have the actionPerformed:
publicvoid actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
{
con.add(tryagain);
con.add(correct);
}
So add your 'linking' code there:
myTextField.setText("whatever you want"); //change text when button is clicked
Ohh, you have an environment variable issue. Check the java.sun site to get the latest info on how to correctly set your variables.
I guess I am mainly a piano geek. Here is me playing with Tetris music. http://youtube.com/watch?v=SkrVnfHsmK8
I am too. It's hard to beat 'moonlight sonata' and 'fur elise' (my two favs).
I'm a music geek for sure. I got through spurts where I'll listen to a particular artist or style until my ears hurt then switch.
I recently have been on a Frank Zappa kick. IMO, Zappa is the greatest composer since Mozart. Some of the best guitar work you will ever hear is on his album 'Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar.' Highly recommend it.
NOTE: If you are easily offended by non-PC lyrics then you'll hate pretty much every piece of music he sings on. That's the mark of a genius.
The Stones are great.
Well, I don't know who you are, but judging by your avatar you have to be very cool. I live in NC and root the hurricanes on also!
Jam. That's almost as bad as the one selling empty Windows folders :).
Goldfish coffin? Shoot, when my catfish died I threw it out in the yard and my cat ate it.
For most things, I use names of sports teams, with numbers at the end.
Funny. I use sports players and since I like hockey most of them happen to be really weird names, so it works out for me none the less.
I don't see a purpose in going overboard with a huge password you can't remember, but it's all up to you. Add some numbers and what not. For financial and very important administration accounts, then yes, I would have a password that requires you to write it down. Basically, it's up to you ;) I'm sure you know what's dumb (ie: 12356) and what's not.
You can't create a discussion forum in IIS server, but you can make it run on ISS.
Best thing to do is find a tough problem and solve. Most of what you'll encounter in the workplace is new territory, so know the basics, know how to locate and search through API's and get good at logic. Logic problems will help you more than anything (in my opinion), because like I said, the workplace is completely new territory and it's nearly impossible to study for the things they'll have you doing.
Shew that's a lot of people. Next goal will be 1 million posts.
Congrats to Dani and Daniweb!
We can't wait and we can't continue to annihilate every area we think might have some terrorist activity either.
Annihilation is the only answer. Do you not remember how the Japenese were until the nuke was dropped? They stopped didn't they?
Until then like Asif Nsu said, educating the world about terrorist cells and how they operate is the only RIGHT thing to do.
And what exactly does that do besides nothing?
So if the governments plan is to BLAST out all terrorist activity no matter where it may be, what happens when they our setting up camp in our own backyard?
Well if we blast it out now instead of letting the liberals whine about everything we won't have to worry about that now will we?
EDUCATION IS THE KEY
I'd LOVE to hear how education is the key. Please explain.
Maybe I'm just different (imagine that):cheesy: Oh well, their both great blogs and support the site so what can I say... I think toulenwoek's blog is the better quality, but maybe it's just not on a topic everyone likes (and of course I mean no offense to the creator of the other blog... It's still very good and better than mine, obviously).
I can't spot anything really wrong, but you could try importing this:
import java.util.Collections.*;
and see if that works.
Does anyone know how to get my password for aol email sent to a yahoo email account. I have forgotten my aol password.
Have you tried clicking the "Forgot password" link or are you just trying to get someone elses password?
And, as I said before, of course the voting shows favoritism: what's the point of it otherwise? Doh!
Sorry. I didn't know it was a member popularity contest (quality of content is why I think toulenwoek is hands down winner).... I'll stay away from it then in order not to cause any trouble.
Is this the reason why these books never mention the complexity of
scanf
function, never mention that usinggets
afterscanf
may result in disaster, never mention thatfgets
is the best way to take in strings, never mention thatfflush (stdin)
has undefined functionality ?
You know of a C++ book that goes over that stuff in detail?
I was just wondering if people could tell me what they think is the best way to learn C++, and link to some tutorials maybe? Recomend a book, ect.
I prefer Brad Jones' "Teach yourself C++ in 24 days".... In my opinion it covers material better than any other C++ book I've read. "The C++ Programming Language" by Bjarne Stroustrup is excellent, but you'll probably want a little knowledge before getting into that one.
I wouldn't start with GridBag right away. It's 'slightly' more complicated than the others and almost everytime you'll end up using several different layout managers together... Not just one. Personally, I like nesting JPanels.
There's no single book. If you want to learn just GUI then go with Sun's swing layout tutorials. The tutorials should be short, sweet and to the point. Most of what you do depends on experience. Don't expect to be an expert after reading a tutorial or book. Experience will give you good judgement that a tutorial or book can't give you.
Okay, the ad is cool enough. But the 'land' isn't in public view.
When I wear my plumber pants it is.
I guess I could let one of my butt checks go (if the advertisement looks cool enough).
Take a look at the StringTokenizer or Regex packages and then get back if you still have questions. You should be able to specify white space as a delimiter and quickly be able to count the number of words.
write a chat program, that's something nobody else is doing!
baaaaaawhhhahhahhahahaha.
What about one of those fart noise makers? Press a button and it makes a fart noise. Have it select a random fart each time the button is pressed. You could also make it a web service where users can submit their farts to your fart database.
Any dude with the word purple in his name won't be moding anything of mine.

I'd personally go for a bot that turns linux and mac machines into zombie computers and allow windows machines to use their bandwidth.
Toulinwoek wins hands down. I'm deeply suprised at the voting turnout which in my opinion shows some obvious favoritism.
Good work Toulinwoek, you're the winner in my opinion.
You can't do that unless the Applet is signed.
How can you don't have special titles for people like me that say "Worthless Member"?
There's no doubt about their service... Their tech support (under warranty) is the best around compared to businesses of every type.
Forums thrive off of controversy.... Would there been as many posts if we hadn't disagreed with each other? I think not.
Weird.. I remember having this problem but not creating this thread.
I wonder how many people posted know more than the language they posted?
For me, I think the coolest language is either C# or VB.NET... Hard to be the simplisity (hard word to spell) and power of .NET.
I think I paid around 80 for my sound card, but it was at the bottom of my priorities since I don't really play games all that much. My next enhancement's should/needs to be the new zalman vga cooler. My graphics card is VERY large and gets VERY hot. I do have one extra fan that's so large it won't fit in my case. I would like to rig it somehow on my desk, because my blower fan blows out heat and can really warm the room up.
I'm sure if i met Server_Crash we would have a blast with him in person just talking about computers.
I don't doubt that ;) I have to listen to programmers and read/write code all day, so some hardware talk would be great. Of course with building my own machine I always look into how I can make it better. Recently I added some nice creative speaks and a canon pixma 500 to the mix... not exactly mods, but additions.
Don't you just love it when the glass half full guy meets the glass half empty guy!
I love threads like this :)
Vicec64 the way you can reel off all those models and specs is impressive if not a little sad, but I liked it.
Hey, we kissed and made up via PM.
PS: I don't look at things as being half empty. I look at them as being built twice as big as they should have been.
Okay specs on my machine that was built about 5-6 months ago. Approx cost $2500.
Samsung 204 b ($575 at the time of purpose.. much cheaper now)
Case: http://lian-li.com/Product/Chassis/Middle_Tower/Classical_Silent/M_C_S_PC-6070plus_2.htm -- $150?
keyboard (small zippy keyboard around $30)
Asus a8n32blahblah SLI delux mobo (64 bit S939) -- think it was $250 at the time, but I could be wrong about that... I'm pretty sure it was, though.
CPU ( don't have exact details at the moment was an AMD something) -- $550.
VGA -- 256 7800 GTX (don't have details right now somewhere around 1350-1400 clockspeed)
RAM -- 1 gig of Crucial (best memory in my opinion) -- $175
300 gig HD (Don't remember cost)
Oh well, you catch my drift. I'm at work (suppose to be working) right now and don't know everything off the top of my head.
After taking a look at some of the prices on equipment that costed me a lot of dough, I could very well be wrong. I'll build one on the internet and see later.
It looks like my monitor has dropped almost 250, my cpu 300, and my graphics card about 2. Don't you hate the rate of change?
As defined:
Excellent-ex·cel·lent (ĕk'sə-lənt) pronunciation
adj.1. Of the highest or finest quality; exceptionally good of its kind.
Notice the word qauility in there?
Of course it's part of excellency. Is the parts you picked out OF HIGHEST QUALITY?
^ Do you mean "shows? (not "showed")? And ...how so.
Good question... How does it show the wealth of knowledge you keep referring to?
You have a 'kiddie' definition of excellent i would presume. I would also bet you're not much older than one.
Ahh, have to throw out the old your younger than me so I know more insult? Doesn't work with me. I may be younger than you, but that doesn't mean you know more so get over it. Although I don't question your knowledge. You obviously know hardware, but I think what you're doing here is rediculous.
YOU never ASKED any questions sport.
I did...
question: (when you were missinterpreting the word excellent)
So if 'high end' means something even higher, then how is it possible to get higher than the highest quality?
You made the claim that a $1000.00 gaming PC that could be called excellent is un-doable.
Right.
You never made your case to the contrary after making that statement.
No proof needed. You're the one who has to disprove. (which you haven't given an excellent $1000 gaming PC)
bordering on meglomania.
Ooopsssyyyy. You got a spelling error. If you're going to correct …
Why couldn't you split your code into seperate methods and execute a certain method when you need it? As Wolf said, goto is bad practice and I consider it old school :cheesy:
 You definately should post more often.
Great news. Hope everything goes your way and you get to do what you want.
Good luck finding a laptop ;)
It could also be the amount of traffic. I'm in another forum that is MONSTROUS and it's extremely slow and they don't have any advertisements, but they do have thousands of users online all the time. If it is the ads then could it be that they are flash? Could you find an alternative?
Disprove? No. But when you thread crap with yourself having very little actual hardware knowledge i'll be sure to make sure you see the light.
You still haven't disproved what I said.... First of all, the definition... Did you read the definition of excellent? I assume not. All I said was that you CAN'T build an EXCELLENT gaming PC for $1000 and I'm sure more people will agree with me than you. You can say I have a lack of knowldge, but what exactly gives you that idea? I think it's just you've just been disproved and out argued and don't want to admit it so you sit here and sling mud.
Don't worry. This will be my last post here at Daniweb.
[extreme sarcasm] ohhhh darrrrnnnn.... don't go. [/extreme sarcasm]
I have a few other forums where hardware is a mainstay that i post in (and actually do some of the reviews), and consequently you wouldn't last a day with your attitude coupled with your lack of knowledge.
Yeah, since this thread really showed a WHOLE LOT OF KNOWLEDGE... Once again, it shows ignorance on your part.
Being this is indeed my last post feel free to thread crap further it's about the only way your going to make your thread crapped argument look good (to yourself).
Don't worry. I'm not doing it for me, I'm doing it for you. I still don't understand how my single comment "You can't build and Excellent gaming PC …
Doesn't matter, I had a feeling you were a flake and all it took was a simple post search - and it was as plain as day to see. You made a bafoon out of yourself in another thread so i wanted to see for myself. 9 months or not, this thread as does the other one shows hardware igonorance.
Really? Seems like you're the one making a retard out of yourself. Kind of weird you own a shop doing this sort of thing when you have no clue what you're talking about..... Not that building or fixing a computer requires ANY special knowledge at all.
as does the other one shows hardware igonorance
Hmm... That's about the exact same thing I told you. Can you not come up with anything on your own?
PS: Do the computers you build last less than a year? How about your warranties? Are they as good as mine? (5-10-lifetime without any extra cost)
It's slow from my end too, but it's expected from the plague of ads.
Cut the insults, keep the argument technical/using facts, and refrain from mudslinging.
Thanks :-|
Well, I'm getting sick of arguing about something very simple and he's already starting to go through threads I've created a long time ago and trying to disprove me in those.... very annoying.
Really?. In actually own and operate a very high end repair/build shop. High volume too.
The term excellent is very subjective for gaming PC's. I could use "Extremely High End" and a myriad of other terms to describe what you really mean. When i think "excellent" to me it means excellent PART selection AND a good balance of CPU/GPU combination. I'm assuming your not to much of a moron to understand that not everyone uses a 24" wide screen monitor that requires at least 2 7900GT/GTX to drive the newest games at respectable framrates for widescreen resolutions.
In effect excellent can be a system with an A64/3500 with a 7600GT as long as the person is using a monitor that will scale (CRT) or a 19-20" LCD with 1280x1024. If you're thinking that for a gaming machine to be called "excellent" that it needs an A64 4000+/4400X2/2HDD's/X1900XTX or 7800GTX2 - well your wrong. It doesn't - again, that would be called a "high end" system, and possibly excellent depening on the quality of parts chosen and how well it's put together.
If a monitor itsn't needed i can put together a PC that is close to high end for around $1000.00 (4000+-7900GT-X1800XT-X1900XT (not XTX) and excellent too. Quite Easily.
Here's a definition for you:
Excellent: Of the highest or finest quality; exceptionally good of its kind.
So if 'high end' means something even higher, then how is it possible to get higher than the …
PS: This thread is like 9 months old?
Uh huh. And you didn't reaize that laptops in general have a much higher failure rate?
That's why you sould have bought the extended warranty on the laptop. Everyone in the know about dell laptops in general knows this. As someone pointed out for you earlier laptops have more heat, smaller parts, dell sometime subsitutes cheaper parts, and besides all that they just flat fail easier. It was your fault for not protecting the laptop.
Yes, it is my fault the laptop died in less than a year.... You know, it's just a general concept that you buy a new laptop every 90 days...

I love threads like these.
at least I've seen two breasts...
Wow? You wanna cookie?
Give me your technical definition of an excellent $1000.00 PC.
There's no such thing. You can't build an excellent gaming pc for $1000.
I've been saying that for the past two or three posts so I don't know if you're just ignorant or having trouble understanding simple concepts.
