so I worked on an older hp for this lady, i did full backup with a dvd set, but nasty viruses and trojans screwed up the back up set. She did not have an xp install disk with media center, so I installed xp with a random xp disk. I do have a cd key for her install, but of coarse, xp home will not accept it. Is there any way to upgrade to media center so the cd key will accept?

just make sure you keep your ip address for the printer static, otherwise it could change, and depending on how you set your defaults, if it is not static, it could create issues.....good luck!

My most prized victory lately is some stubborn work to replace a vanity, sink, mirror cabinet, medicine cabinet in my bathroom. Put it off for a while, but finally decided to install them! Took a while, but I am not a great plumber I also replaced the toilet...none of it fun, but it had to be done!

I also had thoght about the whole cold soldering unit and never picked it up. I was doing some tinkering around the other day, and decided I would get a new one....guess it wont be one of those!

You show that you have sp2...do you have your updates set to automatic? Have you previously been able to play these games with no issues? The reason I ask about your automatic updates is that sometimes with sp3 or 4, you might experience issues with some of these games, if your gaming software is not updated as well...just something to check into, not sure if that is your fix but it is worth a look! Also, recheck the amount of RAM your computer has. Also realize that your processor is quite dated, and you may not be getting the performance you are wanting with your pentium 4.

Also try those large blue balls (heh,heh I said blueballs) - they are really good for your core strength and will change your posture. Just keep one around (if you have the room) and use it once or twice a day.

They even make these "blue balls" with holders...I have one, and they work quite well with posture techniques. I look at it like this, you only have one body, take good care of it!!

I told myself as I was writing my last little bit that if anyone notices my subliminal messages it was going to be Mr. GrimJack himself....you are so predictable. I think it was inevitable that obama was going to win...to much need for "change" in the USA for the votes not to go to the one who promises that. I only wrote the Oprah bit to spark conversation. This election was absolutely untraditional. Media (in my opinion) drives a large portion of our nation, able to sway thoughts one way or another, as well as powerfully influential people: Oprah being one of them. Politics itself is 'pure crap' if you ask me. Palin was absolutely a help McCain, but who ever even heard of Sarah Palin before 2007? Not me, or anyone else I know. Anyhow... that is true, for sure ,but the way i read it he had the 512 & the 1 gig in when it says 960 ,i think 552 is a bit much for shared video .
can see the bios being set to that giving that he only had 512 meg in to begin with .I have see where one chip would cancel out the other ,because they didn't match ,but usually the other way round to his problem

Have you thought about trying a new OS?? Just curious to know if it is your OS...seems to be the only unchanged variable.

If it does not run automatically, can you run a checkdisk and it work properly that way? Or does it not run at all?

I bought one of those 'flat' screen 'crt' televisions for my wife for her Xmas - she would have killed me if I had bought a flat screen tv. I do not know how or why it happened, but I sent mine back due to rediculous shipping! The box mine came it was almost soaking wet, so I called them and told them to ship me a unit that might work...I did not even open that one, I told the delivery guy to keep it and send it back. The company apologized for the inconvenience and said they would directly ship another unit.....only after they recieve this one back! I am sure they are probably going to put this one in a new shipping box and send me the same exact one!

Do you have good plans for your workstation? Great price for system, you could get it loaded, running smoothly, then sell it for a great profit! That is what I do in my spare time!

As far as it only registering the 960 instead of a full gig is quite common. Sharing ram with a video card, etc. will show a smaller amount of "ready" ram. Don't worry about that, it is normal-but I am not quite sure why it will not allow you to use 2-1gig cards...Are they DDr? and if they are are they 1,2, or 3? Let us know how it goes!

Shall we start our venture in acquiring internet pay-by-click stock? I would hate to be the one to write the tracking software for that kind of a mess!

Yes, Caperjack is correct, it is revolutions per minute...If I recommend a speed to anyone for a harddrive, it is 10,000 rpm.

I was in somewhat of a hurry when I typed that post. I did not mean to relay that the ram can slow your processor, or that ram can slow your HD. I simply meant that if you load a computer with lots of ram and the computer does not have the capability to utilize the ram, than you have simply wasted your time and money on the upgrade. Often time people will purchase a computer with a slow HD, or a slow processor, and expect that a ram upgrade will solve the issue. Your computer must have the proper 'balance' in order to reap the benefits of an upgrade...sorry for the confusion!

Ok, I know I am gonna hear it from several of you, but I have 4 flat panel tv's and I also have a 24" flat panel monitor. For me it is all about the HIGH-DEF! I love me a good football or basketball game in HD. I also like my video games in HD as well. But as far as practicallity is concerned, flat panels are space savers, and the viewing angles are great on most of them. I also love the widescreen format for those good movie nights as well. To each their own...

Mem boost can sometimes work if the program is a good one...in order to find out which ones are good will take a little bit of online research, more than likely you decide which is best for you. Of coarse increasing ram is good. Different types of OS's can only handle a certain amount of ram, so a person may not see improvement if an OS can handle 2 gigs, and a person installs 3 gigs. I know that a common mistake people make is that they will load their new PC's with lots of RAM, but then they get a slow rpm on their hard drive, and a slow processor. So, depending on what your usage is for a computer depends on wether or not a person should upgrade their ram, while keeping in mind if their computer can even handle it.

I am not sure what your issue is at the moment (first time I have heard of this happening), but have you tried opening your browser, going to the microsoft update website, and try to install that way? Let us know if it does it when you try the download through your browser.

One of the main problems with the way things are ran in the states is the fact that people in power cannot say what the hell they are trying to say. He should have just said, "Ok, Ok, your right, you must pay your taxes or else!" But that is the problem......they tend to think that we actually listen to all the crap they babble about, and just figure that we accept it.

It is interesting that we started building one that was about 7 times larger in Texas and had spent about 10 billion on it before it was killed.

What will probably save science is that CERN is very well known and trusted and the project was the group effort of many different countries. So I am pretty sure that it will make it to full capacity and science will get a real boost.

I had no idea we started one in Texas. Do you know the name of the project? Is it going to be possible to continue the project, or is it forever abandoned? Thanks for filling me in GrimJack, I am gonna have to look into this!

Soooo, about the LHC, does anyone see any world leaders bringing in their thoughts of possible mass destruction when this machine is taken to near capacity. I thought perhaps some political intervention would be an abosolute neccesity to filter through whatever thoughts are running through their heads (science inevitably will not be left to the scientists, right!) about the project. Again, I can see all sorts of delays for this, and am curious to know how long it might take to get through it.

I am honestly going to be biased to the 360, I have one and I luv it. I have played both, and I even own a PSP, so its not like I am against sony or anything. I find all the titles I am after on the 360, and when you get down to it, the graphics and acceleration are great on both systems. I think it is a great buy to have a blu-ray player on the sony, but hey, I am a halo fanatic (what is crazy is I am almost 30, and still luv games!), so I have to give it to the 360. Which system do you own...perhaps both?
