Well other than this is NOT a java forum, this is for c# and theres a .net web forum too.. The first thing is that you would have to use some form of ajax type thing as you would need to ask the db if the usernames there - but best advice, ask in a more apprioriate forum.

No that would just call server.start

For future reference you should say in what way it doesnt work. What debugging showsd you, what else you tried...

The arguably best way to do it is to make your own server class, where it runs a thread, it has events to say to the rest of the app something happened, and to take input and send it when it can..

theres quite a few threaded server side examples on the net, just make sure you create and maniuplate your server object within the thread.

the contents of "Filename" has to be what you wanted..

Then you would need to place it in the selection statement sent to the db, not the one run client side on your pc
