Hey guys!
I'm really hoping to get some help that will help me to take the first step with my project-

I'm working on a web system. where I'm stuck is that my database needs to get all the data from a SAP ERP system that is used in the organization I'm building the new system for.
a user showed me some things he can do with SAP like getting reports, etc, but that didn't help me understand anything on how to connect with it's DB..
someone suggested that I get the data by exporting a bunch of reports as XML files..but that seems impossible, considering that 1. someone actually needs to export EACH report (and it takes few minutes till it generates 1). 2. I'll need countless reports to extract all the data about everything. 3. I need MY DB to be updated all the time..not once a year when someone decided to export reports.
so my conclusion was that this is the dumbest idea ever lol
now I need to find someway to make this work.
I assume that in order to access the DB itself I can avoid any contact with the GUI, but I have no idea. should I find the person in charge of the DB?
I asked 2 people what kind of sap is it, 1 told me - SAP ECC 6.0 another told me- SAP 7.01. go figure..no one knows anything..

any advice/help/suggestion/ANYTHING! please share with me
if you did something like this before please PM me. I'll be forever grateful! :)
