Have you ever wanted to move something with your mind or make the character in your game move when you move? I know I have wanted to do those two things and amazingly enough I have with the help of technology. I was at a tech convention with products not available to the public when I played Brainball, a game where two people get black straps put on their heads. The straps connect into a table where a ball is sitting. The Goal of the game is to move the ball across the board with your mind into the other persons goal; it's basically mind soccer.
if you asked 20 people that have played Brain ball "Is Brain Ball a hard game?" You most likely would get 19 out of 20 saying "it's super hard and it's a dumb game!" Here is a imaginary game of Brain Ball that will explain why people would say the game is hard. lets call our two players IT Manager and the other the 60's hippie. Since the goal of the game is to get the ball into the other goal the IT Manager focuses his mind on the ball while the Hippie just sits letting his mind drift off. I am sure if you were betting on the game you would say the IT manager would win hands down; however that's not the case. The IT manager will lose the game and the Hippie would win because the Brain Ball straps seems to read your stress level so if you are focusing your mind on the ball your stress goes up if you aren't focusing your mind on the ball your stress goes down there was actually a screen showing the two players "brain waves" and the lower the "brain waves" the more relaxed the person was.
I played brain ball and just sat back with a smile on my face thinking about all the cool prototypes while the other guy focused his mind on the ball and ended up tearing the strap off his head and forfeiting since I kept scoring every 5 seconds.
I also experienced making a character in a video game move when you move. How is this possible? It is simple really they have a camera taking 130 pictures per second of your movements which is processed to the character in the game making it a game with no controller except your body. The game I played is not on the market and is rather simple, all you have to do is fly your pegasus against another pegasus on a race towards the finish line while dodging any obstacles. I will buy this gaming system when it comes out on the market but the company doesn't expect it to be available for a while they had no release date planned since it costs so much to make one Gaming System right now.
