I like to write programs for Windows in Assembly .I am currently reading Assembly Language Step-by-Step by jeff duntmann 2n edition which was published in 2000 .

1.Is that ok(the year 2000)? <<< (it has both DOS an Linux. I read DOS part)

I've found a new book (3rd edition(published 2009),same book) ,but that only has Linux programming, book says this version excludes DOS. But I want to learn programming to be able to run in Windows machines.

2.If I learn from this new(Linux) book, Will I also be able to write programs to Windows too?

3.Can I use Ubuntu if I want to learn Linux programming ?
