Is the Vision Pro worth it?
Hardware and Software
macOS

Is the Apple Vision Pro worth it if I already have an Oculus Quest? I'm not a big gamer, but I have my entire wedding recorded in VR, and I love watching mini-
movies
and shows in 3D VR. My husband is into things like Red Matter. I honestly don't remember if I have a Quest 2 or 3.

Oddly, you are required to go through an hour long tutorial/demo at the Apple Store before they will sell you a Vision Pro. I haven’t had the patience as of yet.

One of my sons spent a lot setting up some other VR gear. And then broke his TV playing a game (punched the TV). 3 years later it sits in a box because it's out of date and new models that are worth buying are not worth buying (not going to rewrite that.) For me, not worth it.

> some other VR gear Was it not a Quest *or* Vision Pro? I didn’t realize there were any other quality VR headsets on the market. Also, make sure to always play with plenty of space around you. I can’t speak for the Vision Pro, but the Quest is very good at immediately letting you know if you or your arms are approaching out of the gaming…

I usually put a square tile in the middle of the floor to stand on when playing Beat Saber. Eleven Table Tennis doesn't need it because I orient myself to the VR table. I play In Death Unchained seated because there are too many vertigo-inducing places in the middle world where I could easily fall over. Some of them make my feet tingle.

I find it vertigo-inducing to be sitting!! I simply cannot handle when what I see simulates me moving (e.g. walking in a room), but my physical body is not moving. It's fine if things are moving around me, but if *I'm* meant to be walking, I need to be physically walking in order to not get sick.

I still get vertigo at times when sitting (like jumping and landing on the edge of a cliff) but at least I can't fall down and crack my head.

Finished Red Matter 2 on the Oculus Quest recently. It was very well done and enjoyable. The graphics were excellent.

Hello and welcome!! My husband was really into Red Matter on the Oculus as well. Unfortunately, it gave me a bad headache after just a few minutes.

My son had the same problem so typically I'd plug in to the matrix and he would observe on my laptop using Air Receiver. Quick plug: I bought Air Receiver through the Microsoft Store for around four dollars. Running this you can cast directly from the Oculus without having to go through the Meta servers. Naturally, casting point to point means …

I used Plex and a Mac for years to stream to my TV. When I switched to linux, PLex ran but couldn't find my media directories. I finally found a product called Emby. It has a server that runs and aps for many different divices. It even has one for my FireTV. Works great.
