I think I might not have explained it correctly. with no ram /hard drive or graphics this is what happens. 12 pin power in only heatsink fan run ok . 12pin and 4 pin in the heatsink
spins
once. so the problem occurs when the 4pin mobo power is in. which power the components on the board and this is why nothing works.

I've been using the LXDE spin for the past several days, and I'm finding it quite good, actually. Bear in mind that I am a Debian, Slackware, and Arch kind of guy. I generally steer clear of Fedora, but I have a penchant for LXDE lately, and can't help trying out distros that are using it. I could take exception to the integration of some Gnome …

Yes, I forgot to mention that the XFCE Spin also has the choice of LXDE. I like the interface too.

[QUOTE=timpati;766756]i guess that either your psu is demaged or a broken device feeded from 12V line. please try this: connect any load which draw a few amperes to psu outside. if psu does not reduce its voltage then you must connect cards (ethernet, VGA, sound etc.), RAM, HDDs and mainboard respectively. meanwhile, you must observe or measure…

The problem sounds like it is the actual connection to the motherboard. Disconnect both of your power cables and reconnect them and press firmly until you feel the "click" of the retaining clip which lets you know that it is securely connected. It is highly unlikely that you have damaged the motherboard by just changing the case.

I mean by shorting the appropriate motherboard jumper or by removing and then replacing the CMOS battery. (With the power cord disconnected of course).

Definitely sounds like the hard drive then :( I'd suggest that, rather than simply fit a new hard drive, you get a technician to check the power supply unit and the various power leads and power connectors on it. You may have a problem there which is causing the drives to fail.

Pull the RAM, hard drive, cd/floppy drives, pc cards, battery, and unplug everything from the laptop. After a few minutes, plug the ac power back in, and try to boot the pc. You should get a beep code since there is no memory in the system. If you don't, the motherboard or cpu is probably bad. If you do get the beep codes, remove power and put one …

you could use a blanket and a small popup at the center saying 'Please wait..' while the code is in progress. Alternatively you could create a small heading like div with jquery with a timeout option. it should load till the rest of the html in the page loads and once the entire page loads after few seconds the heading at the top would disapear.

Most people would include an animated gif so that it appears that some type of processing is occurring. You could display a static message but that would also confuse users if nothing is happening on the screen. They will still believe the app is hung. I prefer something with movement. I no longer use animated gifs because sometimes they don't …
