Tagging Guidelines

  • Do use relevant tags to describe the topic of your question, discussion, or editorial article
  • Do ensure the tags you use effectively communicate a non-subjective topic such as a specific technology or category
  • Do optimize for users to navigate tag pages to find other relevant questions of interest
  • Do use hyphens to combine multiple words into a single tag, and put thought into how others might search for the topic
  • Do not create new tags unless you are covering a new topic that nobody else has discussed before
  • Do not create new tags that are overly niche or may lack mass interest
  • Do not create new tags just because you can (and only non-newbie members can)
