I can't move, copy, or delete two files that I downloaded for Ragnarok Online. When I even try to right click them, they freeze up the folder window, and lags up my entire computer. They're setup files, and are named RAG_Setup1010 and SAK_Setup1010. When I end task for the folder, it makes my taskbar and desktop icons disappear, so I can't do anything... and it just happened right now. Can anyone walk me through what I should be doing?

==Get CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ - and put it in a new folder. You should aim to keep this one for general use. I set the installation checkboxes only to open from the recycle bin. It's neater that way.
Now run CCleaner from the recycle bin rclick menu using its default settings [if you set up CCleaner as i suggested, rclicking the bin icon should give you the Open CCleaner option...]. Select the Cleaner icon, press Run Cleaner.
[For future quick temp file cleaning select the options you wish to use via the Windows and Applications tabs ..]
==Please use IE to do an online scan at panda:- http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan?
-select a link to the scan... free online virus scan...., enter a valid? email and follow through, choosing My Computer for a full system scan.
Post the log it produces here along with a fresh hijackthis scan..

I couldn't scan using the Panda Activescan because there was an error on the page, and I couldn't click the My Computer icon for a full system scan.

=GET AVG antispyware 7.5 here.. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5
or here.. http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free
-Install it and UPDATE it.
Start AVG a-s 7.5;
-under Scanner/ Settings please change the default action from Recommended Actions to QUARANTINE, and run the complete system scan.
-press Apply all Actions and Save the log file. Post the log file.

The AVG Anti Spyware didn't generate a report, and I couldn't click "Save Report" either. It found 199 threats though, and all were fixed.

==Please copy the text between the lines to a notepad [format/wordwrap unchecked] and save as showkey.bat, as type "all files", to your desktop; dclick it to run, then post the file C:\showkey.txt

It made showkey.txt in the C:\ drive but it doesn't say anything in the textfile.

Ok, that is possibly a null entry now for iexplores.exe - the key has been removed.
Please run ComboFix again if you now have the vbs scripting engine.
You still cannot run Panda online scan? I'm a bit blind because I cannot see what is generating those log entries [the O23's].
Run one of these two rootkit scans, both if you wish... and post any positive results. Do not use your computer while it scans.

==blacklight beta from http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/ -download is at foot of page. Install it, start, accept the agreement and Scan.

==RKR from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Security/RootkitRevealer.mspx -read that page, dl the file at foot, start it and Scan.

And finally scan for malware with one of these two [if you can...]:
==Pandasoftware ActiveScan using IE only from http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan? -link is at right above the padlock: free online virus scan; just follow through the pages, supply a "valid" email address... To reduce the number of detections run either CCleaner or ATF cleaner first [to remove cookies].

==Kaspersky Online Scan, from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner -press the Kaspersky Online Scanner button, follow through....

Looking further.. LEGACY_NPF is associated with your Cheat Engine, so there is probably no rootkit activity on your sys. I'll wait for those scans though.
If you feel that your problem could be eased by removing that online game's setup files you could try to delete it in Safe Mode.

Still no luck with the panda scan? Were you able to delete the game folder?

Still no luck with the panda scan? Were you able to delete the game folder?

Can you say what these two files relate to? [check properties, perhaps]:
C:\WINDOWS\@@desktop.dat
C:\WINDOWS\@desktop@.dat

It appears that you have a vundo infection, or traces of one, so please rename hijackthis.exe to imabunny.exe - this is important.
==Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4
=Restart your system in Safe Mode.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to start it. Click the Scan for Vundo button.
When the scan completes click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files - click YES
Your desktop will then go blank as the process of removing Vundo starts.
When completed it will prompt that it will restart your computer - click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.
!!! Check the Vundofix log for any found files that were not deleted - if present rerun Vundofix !!!
Post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt plus a new HijackThis log.

For some reason, I can't open up AIM anymore. I dclick it, it pops up for half a second, then closes again.

I was able to delete RAG SETUP and SAK SETUP in Safe Mode. I also do not have Vundo, apparently. VundoFix didn't find anything. The only visible problem I have now is the fact that AIM.exe won't start now.

Looks like you are okay on those online gaming setup files now. The vundo files that showed in the last Combofix run were old, from April...
Let's remove that Iexplores.exe run key:
==Please copy the text between the lines to a notepad [format/wordwrap unchecked] and save as showkey.bat, as type "all files", to your desktop; dclick it to run.

[or you can simply paste the line into a command window and press Enter, close the window....]

I was wrong about this service - with the file missing it did not give the owner [which is, or was, sysinternals.... sigh..] -it was not related to the other services.

O23 - Service: ROK - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\KYLEZH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ROK.exe (file missing)

CCleaner removed the service files from the TEMP directory and they were fixed earlier with Hijackthis which disabled them, you should now delete the services using the method below:

O23 - Service: MIMGIC - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\KYLEZH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\MIMGIC.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: MKBN - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\KYLEZH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\MKBN.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: JNGGEIFO - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\KYLEZH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\JNGGEIFO.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: ROK - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\KYLEZH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ROK.exe (file missing)

==Go Start, run, type services.msc -and press Enter. Maximise the window and at foot select Extended tab, scroll to each specific service, rclick it, select properties. Write down the exact Service Name. Press Stop if it is highlighted [you may have to set the service to Disable first]. Close Services, now type this line into the run text box and press Enter:
sc delete "exact Service Name" - repeat for each of those four services.

Okay. I did everything you said. What now?

I don't know. What is the situation? If AIM is still not working I would simply reinstall it.

I reinstalled it and it still doesn't work.

Pacian, I need to ask - did you run Rootkit Revealer even before I asked? Because there are 4 traces of separate runs in your first hijackthis log.... then, after I got you to delete them [post #16 above] there are now in your last hijackthis log 3 new runs of that service showing?!! Did you actually run Rootkit Revealer 3 times since you posted the previous hijackthis log?

I didn't run Rootkit Revealer that many times but I did run C Cleaner that many times.

Okay, CCleaner would not be the culprit.. your sys shows a total of seven RR runs that I have seen. Somewhere I remember seeing a reference to an AIM virus or trojan that strangely included a copy of sysinternals rootkit revealer... I am wondering if it runs RR when you try to start the infected AIM pgm.
Naturally I cannot at the moment find that reference.... sigh...

I actually tried starting AIM on another user on the computer and it worked. It seems it's only limited to my account.

AIMFIX didn't work.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I can help you any further, pacian... it looks like a registry setting is blocking your account from using AIM, but I would have thought a reinstallation would have cleared that. There is obviously a setting outside of AIM that affects you; I have no ideas on that. It would have been nice if you could have managed a Panda scan as per below, but I don't think that would solve your current problem, anyway.
==Please use IE to do an online scan at panda:- http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan?
-select a link to the scan... free online virus scan...., enter a valid? email and follow through, choosing My Computer for a full system scan.
Post the log it produces here...
Cheers. I hope someonelse knows what could be the block.

Thanks for all your help. I'll try that panda scan.
