I have went to the Tools-Options-Security tab and cleared the tick by the "Do not allow attachments, etc" and I still cannot receive any emails with attachments outside my immediate office.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Perhaps your office IT department has not permitted attachments from the outside? Just a guess.

Your ISP may be either prohibiting attachments, or configured by a setting in your user preferences to prohibit them.
