Hello. I was wondering if someone could PLEASE help me figure out why my laptop keeps lagging / freezing. I dont usually have anything open except a couple of webpages (ebay & verizon email). Even IE freezes all the time (or lags ALOTTT). Alot of the times they permanently freeze and I have to alt-ctrl-delete to get them to close. I am running XP and I have automatic updates on Microsoft & Windows so I am know I am updated. I have a virus protector (just downloaded AVG aswell to see if I could catch something Trend Micro didnt catch) and No such luck. I also just downloaded CCleaner to help clean out some stuff, gained a little bit of room on my harddrive but thats about it. Here is my hijack this log...

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPREACIATED!!!!!!! :] thankyou - Dani

Hi BOB, thankyou so much for responding. I downloaded the new HJT and I will post the log at the end of this message. I deleted AVG and kept Trend Micro. I also performed the 'Check Disk' like you said and rebooted. Also, Checked error logs and there are WAYY to many errors to list. Each sections is as follows.... Application Errors; 2,642 events. Security Errors; 2,363 events. System Errors; 2,611 events. Internet Errors; 0. I also downloaded Spybot and it removed 6 items one of them being a trojan called Fraud.ProtectionBar. I had Spybot fix that and a couple spyware that also came up. As for the questions you asked....

1. I dont have to be doing anything for my laptop to lag/freeze, when I do something as simple as reload a webpage or try and check my email, or just open a file.
2. Yes, I happens all the time. Sometimes I cant even use my computer because the webpages freeze and then I alt-crtl-delete or they shut down themselves.
3. I never have any programs open except Internet Explorer.
4. I cleared my cookies, cache, temp internet files, and deleted some stuff to free up some room on my hard drive, but it didnt stop the freezing/lagging.
5. Its been doing this for about 5 months now, Gotten WAY worse in the past couple of weeks.
6. Downloaded CCleaner yesterday and AVG yesterday (both of which I deleted just now). Bought and installed Trend Micro but I just upgraded because the other Trend Micro I had expired.

THANKYOU SO MUCH!! - DANIELLE

bob, you still there?

What are the specs on this machine? (Make, model, RAM?)
How much HD space do you have left?
You still show entries for AVG and McAffee. My choice would be to uninstall McAffee and Trend Micro and reinstall AVG to use less memory.
Did you run Mbam.exe?

agree with hughv,
also when you run hijackthis you should close IE, Bob posted a link for malwarebytes in post #2
