Do you use the full suite for Norton? because that might be why it's more expensive. I used Avast! (free) as AV. Spyware Blaster and Windows Defender as AS and windows xp firewall. I'm still alive :)

have you tried disabling the firewall (temporarily) and see if you can access then? If not, leave your modem for longer turned off (5 minutes normally works for me). Also have you checked your IP address etc is set to automatic?
