I have been messing with this for 2 days now and for some reason my image will not show up. I have tried to move the code around to varying locations just to see if I am just placing it in the wrong area but nothing seems to work.

for some reason my image will not show up.

Is your only problem with the image? If that is the only problem, you have posted TOO MUCH code.
Make a small simple testing program to work on the image loading problem. Something that will compile, execute and show the problem.

I am more lost now that I was 4 weeks ago. I have created a brand new file just for the purposes of displaying an image and can get it to work beautifully there but it won't work in this program even when replicating the code.

Make a copy of this hugh program and start deleting code that is not part of the problem. Maybe you can reduce it to a small test program that shows the problem.

For testing replace the image with text and see if the label with text will display.
