The problem: My Sony DRU-842a is not working it will not write the Ubuntu ISO I want to burn. My pc is a dell dimension 2350.(old as heck i know but it gets the job done)I have put in sony cd/dvds and memorex as well. I am getting frustrated. The drive is a 20x and I have seen it go to a speed of over 100x and I don't understand why. I am currently using win xp sp3 and its just brutal. Its not that fast and I want to go to ubuntu and save my self the hassle. The drive is set up to be the master drive.

If your writer can burn other disks then I would suggest there is a problem with the ISO image. If you can not write other info to disk, replace the drive.

Yes it think it is the drive but unfortunately I never even got to use it :( and my warranty expired damn you Sony lmao... :(.

ps the first log was actually from image burn sucks it can't read the disk I was able to burn the iso using another computer and loads it and it might also be a problem with the iso file because i had issues even after i burned a new disk using my laptop. Thanks for your reply.
