I had been noticing unwanted ads loading in firefox so i ran spybot which found nothing, but the problems started last night when i blocked a.exe from accessing the internet. I opened task manager and noticed acrord32.exe was using about 1.3gb of RAM (if that has any significance). Then explorer.exe started continually crashing and restarting. I ran adaware which found 5 registry entries for Virtumonde malware, which I removed, restarted and scanned again but they had come back. Because of the the problems with explorer i have been unable to save files so i wasn't able to download DDS and couldn't save the Gmer log. However here is the log from Hijackthis:

Any help would be much appreciated as my computer is pretty much unusable at the moment.

Hello,

Can you pls do the following:

1. - Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

Make sure that you restart the computer.

The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

2. - Pls run HJT again and post the log.

In your reply, post the logs (in this order):
1. - Malware Bytes Log
2. - Hijackthis Log

Thanks,

Cohen

Got Malwarebytes, scanning atm, found 14 infections so far

By the way, acrord32.exe is usually Acrobat Reader. Also, don't do anything else while running a scan like MBA-M, you want it to find everything it can and if interrupted it can miss something.

Okay in the end it found 18 Vundo entries, and has removed them all after a restart and everything is running fun, wasn't able to save a log as it would crash it. However after a restart it seems to have loaded properly and explorer isn't crashing anymore so hopefully its fixed :)

Just done another HJS scan, here's the log:

I susspect these programs were the stubborn ones
They are unIdentified, yet install themselves at startup :-O

The 04 entry is legit so do not fix.

Run HJT again and place a check mark next to the following entries:
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.amaena.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.avsystemcare.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.onerateld.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.safetydownload.com

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.trustedantivirus.com (HKLM)
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.virusremover2008.com (HKLM)
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.virusschlacht.com (HKLM)

Once you have placed the check marks then click the Fix Checked button. Exit HJT.
All of the above are known to download Rogue programs.
Once you have done that run a new full system scan with HJT and post that new log.

Looks better, are things running better? You need to update your java it is woefully out of date. Go HERE and download the newest version which is version 6 update 11. Choose the Offline Install and save it to the desktop.
Once you have that downloaded then go to Add/Remove and Uninstall ALL old versions of Java showing there.
Once you have uninstalled all those then double click that install file on the desktop and install the new version, read through carefully, watch in case there is a yahoo toolbar offered there...there will be a check mark all ready in the install, take that check mark OUT.
Continue with the install. When it is complete go back to the download page and on the right side you will see Verify Now. Click that to go to the verification page where you can check to be certain the install was complete.
