So I'm not sure what's wrong with my laptop, it keeps installing spyware on its own so I have to run MBAM a LOT. I get "IE" popups on Firefox, and sometimes when I try to get to sites I searched for on Google it bumps me onto something called "marchfind.com".

Here are my MBAM and HJT logs:

For one thing your version of MBA-M is way out of date. The current version is 1.34 and database version is 1798. You should always make it common practice to update MBA-M before each and every scan. It commonly updates more than once a day so it can have updates between each scan but yours is definitely several months old.

You are not running any anti-virus program or firewall so the fact that your computer is grossly infected shouldn't come as a surprise to you.

You need to turn off Spybot TeaTimer, it will interfere with any fixes attempted.
Disable Spybot's TeaTimer

  • Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
  • If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu

    • select
    • Advanced Mode
  • On the left hand side, click on Tools
  • Then click on the Resident icon in the list
  • Uncheck

    • Resident TeaTimer
    • and OK any prompts.
  • Restart your computer

Please turn it off immediately.
AFTER you turn off TeaTimer then run HJT again, place check marks next to the following entries:

O1 - Hosts: 195.245.119.131 browser-security.microsoft.com
O1 - Hosts: 195.245.119.131 browser-security.microsoft.com

After you have placed those check marks click the Fix Checked button.
Exit HJT.

Next UPDATE MBA-M and do a full system scan with it and REMOVE all items found.
Reboot the computer.
Next go to ESET ONLINE SCANNER

  • You will need to use Internet Explorer to to complete this scan.
  • You will need to temporarily Disable your current Anti-virus program.
  • Be sure the option to Remove found threats checked and the option to Scan unwanted applications is Checked.
  • When you have completed that scan, a scanlog ought to have been created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please post that log for us as directed below.

Reboot the computer.

Now at some time you obviously had AVG on the system, some of those listings in HJT shows AVG files missing. Search your system for all remnants of AVG and remove them.
You MUST get an antivirus program on that computer ASAP. There are several excellent FREE antivirus programs available. Two recommended here most often are Avira and Avast. Either is fine, take you pick, download, install, update and then do a full scan with it and have it remove or quarantine anything found.

Reboot the computer.
Run a new HJT scan and save the log.
Post back here with the MBA-M log, ESET Scanner log, results of your new antivirus program scan and finally the HJT log.

I got as far as rebooting my computer. When I did that, it booted to nothing except my desktop background. A few seconds later a message popped up saying "ViewMgr has encountered a problem and needs to shut down." I tried rebooting into safe mode but the same thing happened sans the message. I'm using a backup computer right now.

""ViewMgr" is not required to run at start up. Viewpoint Manager - automatic updates for ViewPoint products such as ViewPoint Media Player (as bundled with AOL, AOL Instant Messenger, Compuserve, etc). Can be run manually via Start -> Settings -> Control Panel by enabling auto-updates temporarily, re-booting and then disabling again."
I don't think it is the ViewMgr is the problem, is there a Start button?

No, nothing but my background.
