Please help me, this is really not very fun.... :cry:

Also when I try this help

1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
• Shdocvw.dll
• Msjava.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Browseui.dll
• Shell32.dll

It all goes fine except it says Msjava.dll module could not be found...

Hi Evan and welcome to Daniweb.

C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi\Pribi.exe

C:\WINDOWS\ALCXMNTR.EXE

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

===============

Post back a new log after rebooting and let me know how everything goes.

Thanks Crunchie, and as you said some of those files do not exist.
Pribi doesnt exist

IEservice is a folder, but IEservice.exe does not exist,
in its place is an exe called V28.exe, and there is a configuration settings file, and a FIL file
Should I delete all of these in place of IEservice.exe which is not there?

Then, ALCXMNTR.exe does exist, but it there is also one in the reinstall backups file for drivers in system32....should I delete this as well?

Thank you for your help

EDIT: i decided to delete it all. but to my dismay nothing happened...some links still freeze up...

WHOA!
It is happening within explorer links too!!! I clicked the start menu and clicked search, and it did the same thing it would in iexplorer..

Reboot your PC then rescan with hijackthis and post the log please.
Go here and download and run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.

Well, now you have an A:B infection :(.

Let's continue on with the fix...

===============

Download CWShredder 2 from here. Run it and press the *fix,* not scan and allow it to clean the infection. Close all browser and explorer windows before hitting the fix button.

===============

Download, unzip to your desktop About:Buster and run it, then:

1. Click "Update".
2. Click "Check For Update"

(If no new version is available, skip to step #4.)

3. Click "Download Update", and wait for it to be installed.
4. Click "Start".

(Wait for the initial ADS scan to complete.)

5. Click "Yes", to shutdown any IE session currently open.

(Wait for the about:blank scan to complete.)

6. Click "Ok", to scan once more.
7. Click "Yes", to shutdown any IE sessions currently open.
8. Click "Yes", to begin the second pass.

9. Click "Save log", and post this log back along with your new log.
10. Click "Exit".
11. Click "Exit".

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\ihutl.dll/sp.html#27063
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\ywssx.dll/sp.html#27063
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\about.htm

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1C044AAD-7955-4cbd-8175-501A165C4E5D} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\req.dat

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [\IEService.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\IESERV~1\IEService.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [\Pribi.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi\Pribi.exe

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

files...

C:\WINDOWS\ihutl.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ywssx.dll

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

===============

Post back a new log after rebooting and let me know how everything goes.

whoa, just took a look at that new log, looks like its the i12 spyware...

Let's do this................

===============

We'll need to unload (not uninstall) Intermute's SpySubtract, since it might interfere with other program(s) we might be using to 'clean' off your system.

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.i12.com/

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1C044AAD-7955-4cbd-8175-501A165C4E5D} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\req.dat

O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.i12.com/

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Post back a new log after rebooting and let me know how everything goes.

Let's do this................

===============

We'll need to unload (not uninstall) Intermute's SpySubtract, since it might interfere with other program(s) we might be using to 'clean' off your system.

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.i12.com/

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1C044AAD-7955-4cbd-8175-501A165C4E5D} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\req.dat

O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.i12.com/

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Post back a new log after rebooting and let me know how everything goes.

My recommendation is:

open task manager and kill all suspected sites then download from
www.microsoft.com/downloads
antispware.com

this program is wonderful and superscede all other things I have read before

p.s. if you can't use the internet at all, try using another computer and get this file on the infected computer.

In additon, I would recommend getting www.grisoft.com free antivirus program and installing it.

The Grisoft antivirus is the best antivirus I have seen on the market. This guy gets rid of trojans. You may have to run it twice. I would the same for the microsoft antivirus (beta) It is not a beta, it works like a charm. This guy will get rid of all.

Thanks,

Bassam Al-Bizri

Post back a new log after rebooting and let me know how everything goes.

Go here and download and run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.

I just ran into a very similar problem with a difficult to remove BHO: req.dat.

I contacted Macafee / NAI. It turned out to be this new "backdoor.cpk" thing. I am pretty sure I got it through a web advertizement via NetStad on Tuesday.

More information on the specific thing here:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_132432.htm

I would give the MacAfee 14 day free trial a go -- hopefully it should result in you having a perfectly clean PC afterwards like mine.

Damn...Thanks I'll try that, hijackthis just isnt removing it..

Try this:

Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs -> Manage Add-Ons
select req.dat and at the bottom of the screen select disable.

That should get it going well enough. You can try to find req.dat and delete it, but i can't find it on the machine i was having problems with. It's supposed to be in C:\<Windows Directory>\System32

hope that helps

I confirm previous solution works ok of Disabling REQ.DAT Internet Explorer Add-On.

I had same problem with BackDoor-CPK virus and could not access many web links in web pages and email.

I disabled REQ.DAT in
Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs -> Manage Add-Ons

and web links started to work ok.

Note: Manage Add-Ons option in Internet Exploer Options becomes available after installing XP Service Pack 2.
