Two things, first is i was wondering what the best program for deleting and stopping adware is. Second is i did a scan on my computer and it found an adware file. i tried to delete it with the program and it didnt work, then i tried to find the file directly and delete it but it didnt work. the file is C:\WINDOWS\system32/awvts.dll and i right clicked on the file and said to delete it but it said it was in use by another program or person when its wasnt. if anyone ones how to remove this from my computer that would be very appreciated. also i installed adaware from lavasoft, but after about ten seconds of scanning with adaware my computer restarts. is this the program or a problem on my computer causing it to do this.

Thank You

so i did that i downloaded hijack this and ran a scan and it didnt pick up what i wanted deleted. i have also tried spyware doctor and spysweeper and neither picked it up. the only program that picked it up was avg but that couldnt delete it.

You need to post your HJT log. We will take a look at it.

The file you are referring to is Vundo - also known as Virtumonde.

Spysweeper can remove some variants of it....You will have the original file awvts.dll as well as the filename reversed stvwa with several extensions (.ini, .bak, .bak1 etc).

There are tools specifically for this infection, but I would rather you first post a HijackThis log as requested, so we can verify it is the only issue. :)

Download Vundofix
http://www.atribune.org/downloads/VundoFix.exe
* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
* Turn your computer back on.
