There is a pop-up continually appearing on my Laptop from the taskbar that states that my computer is infected with virus and it may cause critical system failure.. I downloaded Ewido and TrojanHunter and ran sweeps...however the popup still appears on the screen. My laptop is running relatively slow and i cannot access some webpages that need an username and password (eg. Yahoo Mail, etc . ) (Currently sending typing this from my Home Computer.)

Any help is much appreciated!

well do you update your simantec application.....try downloading update for the norton live update and then do a full system scan , from there on clean out anything you dont need or things you dont remember putting on your computer becouse sometimes norton doesnt detect certain melicous files becouse it is disquised as a normal program but i would look up undefined melicous files on the norton website and see if any of that matches up with the list you just posted...if thats so report it and clean out everything..

Here is another user with the same problem: CRITICAL SYSTEMS ERROR in tray

I am a new user of this forum so I am not entirely sure whether just adding my issue to this thread. I see people are being asked to post their Hijackthis logs, so to speed things up here is the log I just ran today. I would greatly appreciate if one of the forum mexports could help me get rid of the problem.

Please don't piggyback off ofther peoples posts guys. Make your own threads. But since your logs are all already here plz do the following.

Please download SmitfraudFix(http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip) (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

Now when you get the log from that everybody make a new thread and post the contents in that new thread.

sharath_53543 Next time please don't piggyback off other posts. At Daniweb if you have the same problem as someone else just make a new thread. That way everything remains organized. Also this thread is almost 7 months old. I am currently a little too busy to do much on Daniweb so please make a new thread with a similar title and somebody will help you.
