This is important : you MUST remove all but one of your resident AV services. I suggest you keep only Zonelab.
You can help us a little by doing this, muffin:
-for a start I cannot tell what hijackthis version you have used, so if you have not already got this version.....
==download hijackthis: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5554.html
-install it to a new folder alongside your program files and then rename the Hijackthis.exe to imabunny.exe.
It appears that you have a vundo infection, or traces of one, so :
==Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4
Restart your system in Safe Mode.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to start it. Click the Scan for Vundo button.
When the scan completes click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files - click YES
Your desktop will then go blank as the process of removing Vundo starts.
When completed it will prompt that it will restart your computer - click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the
Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

In normal mode:
-start HijackThis by dclicking the .exe; now close ALL other applications and any open windows including the explorer window containing HijackThis.
-click the Scan and Save a Logfile button. Post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt plus a new HijackThis log.
NOTE: when posting please, under format in notepad, turn OFF wordwrap. Please include log headers.

thanks gerbil
ive done the scan but its still there
it keep telling me its

c:\windows\system32\ututtdll

also here is the highjack this scan

hope you can help me

==Download this file to your desktop: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
- to run it dclick combofix.exe and follow the prompts to start it. When finished, it will produce a log, C:\Combofix.txt - post that log in your next reply.
A word of caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop.
Post that log plus a fresh hijackthis scan. I would also like to see that vundo report, even if it is null.

Could I pls see C:\vundofix.txt?

Could I pls see C:\vundofix.txt?
And did you actually fix all these entries with hijackthis as I posted previously? Please fix them... [there is one new one in there..]
But first:
==Download Avenger from http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger.zip
You must be in an Administrator-privileged account to run this procedure...
-unzip it to your desktop.
Now please fix these entries with hijackthis:

Good. Start Avenger; select “Input script manually” and then click the magnifying glass icon. Paste into the box as one block all the text between the lines:-
_____________________________________
Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qnagxqrr.dll
_____________________________________
...and click Done, and finally the green light.
Follow promps to reboot your machine.
[The files, etc., that you asked Avenger to delete are zipped to C:\avenger\backup.zip.]
Avenger creates a log file that should open with the results of its actions. This file is located at C:\avenger.txt

Please post that log file plus a fresh hijackthis scan. Vundo log too!

once again thanks for your help

once again thanks for all your help on this matter
cheers
paul

Paul, I really do need to see the actual logs from these tools, not your synopsis, even if the results are null. An dyou must do these things in the order I request - it is no use giving me a hijackthis log run before the tools/fixes are applied because I cannot measure the results. Fresh means fresh, run last [in normal mode, btw]. According to the last ht log you still have not renamed hijackthis.exe as I requested in my first post, and that last HT log was run b4 Combofix. So I am blinded. You must do what I ask in the order that I put, otherwise we get nowhere, n get frustrated. Pretty much here we are dealing with a pest that has self-protection elements - we have to identify the protectors and remove them b4 we can deal with the active elements. Sometimes the protectors change name between restarts of your sys, which makes it all a lil harder.
So pls, rename hijackthis.exe, and post a fresh log, plus that Avenger txt.

Hi gerbil i hope i have donet this correct for you

Many thanks

kind regards

Paul

Paul, you are still not renaming hijackthis!! Browse to the folder, select the hijackthis.exe and rename it to... anything... your favourite food..imabunny.exe, friedonion.exe... the reason I suggest imabunny is cos it sticks out like a sore thumb. You call it TrojanNemesis.exe and I'm going to wonder just what that is...!?
And the Avenger thing - you must paste in ALL the script between the lines, incl "Files to Delete:" - that is an instruction without which Avenger will not run correctly>

Start Avenger; select “Input script manually” and then click the magnifying glass icon. Paste into the box as one block ALL the text between the lines:-
_____________________________________
Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qnagxqrr.dll
_____________________________________
...and click Done, and finally the green light.
Follow promps to reboot your machine.
...give it another shot..? Post the new Avenger log and a HT log run last of all.. Thanks.

well gerb i hope ive don it correct for you

paul

Hi, Paul... you got AVenger right... but not this bit:
"C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\imabunny.exe\HijackThis.exe"
..I would like to see:
"C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Hijackthis\imabunny.exe"
[Interesting that you added an extension to a folder name, but I spose a folder does not care that much what it is called... ].
An I know how this will turn out, too - I'll put you through this hoop n nothing more will show up. But we should check. How is the sys , btw?

Hi Gerbil hope ive done it correct for you

ill tell u whats happening now every time i reboot i get a black box pop up with the heading
c/windows/system32/cmd.exe

in side the box it says 4 times

the system cannot find the path specified

also a grey pop up with the heasing exception processing message
says c0000013 parameters 759b9f9c 4756b6f9c 746b6f9c

hope ive done this correct for you
cheers
Paul

Paul, use hijackthis to fix this entry:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ebftegwy] C:\ygbwmcti.bat
-then go into C: root and delete the file.
-the remainder of your log shows clean.

hi gerbil its just the c root part i dont understand

cheers
paul
ps the pc seems to be running ok

Ah, ok. That file, C:\ygbwmcti.bat is in what is called the root of the C: drive, is all - the main directory if you like, not in a folder..... It's just called the root of C:
Glad things seem smooth now.

Thanks Gerbil for being so patient
I think everythings ok and I am really gratefu
I can stop tearing my hair out now
just deleted the final file which you told me to
so fingers crossed
any idea what could have caused it

once again

Paul:)

Paul, it is sufficient to just visit some sites for an unwelcome dl. Or do a mouse-over on a [hidden] link, dl a picture with hidden content.... anything really. I don't know the specifics of your particular pest.
Glad you are running again. Get Spywareblaster; it's free, and updated will block thousands of bad sites, sites you just would not wish to visit unless you want real problems [i'm not talking censorship here, just safety..]
