what's the best music player to use with linux ubuntu that has all the perks but not alot of plugins

My Ubuntu 9.10 come with Rhythm box. Works great. Other like VLC, Helix.

theres a lot of available media players for linux , mpd (probably the smallest very configurable though), amarok (huge package) does a lot though are the two i use.
