Hi,

I recently built a new computer and everything seems to be running smoothly; however, certain games will give me the BSoD upon startup and I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm sure it's hardware but certain games will play. For instance, I'm able to play Skyrim without any incidents whatsoever. However, when I play Portal 2 or Deus Ex: Human Revolution, before the games even load I get a crash. All drivers are up to date.

Here is the report:

above is from the last dump file and it show a conflict with directx .
install latest directx and most up todate Video drivers could help fix it .

check for directx version .

others are all the same and show ntkrnlpa.exe as the problem ,this file is most important in booting and running the system .

also it could be a ram issue so if you can ,download and create a boot disk of memtest86 and boot the laptop to it and let it run for a few hrs to check your ram .it a free program .just click on the free download link to the left .

I have all the latest drivers(as far as I know) The AMD website says I have the latest video drivers, but I'm not 100 percent sure how to check all my drivers. and I have direct X 11. Should I be using direct x 10? I'm not sure what you mean by the ntkrnlpa.exe error. Could that be causing my problems? I'm about to run memtest, and I will get back to you with those results.

Ok I'm now running the membest, at one pass no errors have been found. Just to be clear I'm running windows 7 32 bit on a desktop.

this i just found on the net today ,if memtest comes up with no errors ,,it meant to be done on a computer that is having bsod errors ,i ran it on mine with no ill affects .follow directions carefully .
=========================
you can try and create some by running the driver verifier, which will stress-test your non-MS drivers. If the verifier flags a driver, it will BSOD the system. To re-start,

To run the driver verifier - bring up an elevated administrative cmd/DOS prompt:
START |in search programs and files ,type cmd.exe | right-click on cmd.exe uptop under programs | Run as Administrator | type in " verifier "without the "" & hit enter - the Verifier screen will appear | do the following:

1. Select 2nd option - Create custom settings (for code developers)
2. Select 2nd option - Select individual settings from a full list.
3. Check the boxes
• Special Pool
• Pool Tracking
• Force IRQL checking
4. Select last option - Select driver names from a list
5. Click on the Provider heading - sorts list by Provider
6. Check ALL boxes where Microsoft is not the Provider
7. Click on Finish
8. Re-boot

memtest never turned up any errors.

I followed these steps. I did not get any kind of dialog box or notification when I restarted?

actually it was suppose to stress all the non microsoft items you check of to see if one of them cause the computer to blue screen before you got to restart the computer .so i guess that didn't work

let try system file checker to check for corrupt or missing windows system files .

go to start and open the admin elevated CMD prompt again and type in with out the quotes ,
"sfc /scannow " note the space between C and /

So any other ideas? I have read a few things about directx 11 not working properly?

oops, didn't see your other post. I am scanning now, will post back with results.

the scan did not find any integrity violations.

Yea, I have run that a few times already and it says everything is good to go. thanks.

I'm having the exact same issue with the same processor. BSOD caused by ntoskrnl.exe. I have repaired windows, reinstalled drivers, and portal 2. When I verify the integrity of the game, one of the files fails to validate but it doesn't say which file failed. After it reacquires the file and I recheck the integrity the same thing happens again. You aren't the only person experiencing this problem. :\

Asus M5A97

Windows 7 64x

I'm also having this problem. I upgraded my PC on the weekend and now I can't run certain newer games. I've tried everything I can think of and I'm at my wits end. All I wanna do is play Portal 2!

Here are My Specs:

CPU: AMD FX 4100
