hello friends,

i have heard that when formatting USB drive if we choose "Allocation unit size" maximum from 4096 bytes to 64kilobytes then it will increase clock cycles , that's why it increases read/write speed.

but some says after sometime of use it will damage your USB and may be destroy permenantly too.

is there anyone knows what happen actually?

i should do this or not?

thanks

regardless if it damages your USB drive, if the allocation unit is 4KB and you change it to 64KB, then the smallest unit of space you will use is 64KB even if the file you save is 1KB. You'll have a lot of wasted space.

The allocation size on the disc should have zero to do with the health of the USB hardware. This sounds a lot like some sort of urban legend.
