My brother loves the game "Anarchy Online", but can't really enjoy it because (a.) he only has a 56k connection and can't get broadband for another year (botched contract thingy), and (b.) he can't really afford the subscription prices to play it, now that he has a kid hehehe. So, if anyone knows of any games which are similar in style/theme/genre to Anarchy Online, but can be played OFFLINE, please let me know ;)

I don't know if he's into fantasy stuff, but The Elder Scrolls series of games look pretty cool, particularly Morrowind. It's a game I never got around to playing, but after checking out their website, I might give it a go in the next few weeks.
Thanks a lot alc6379, I think this game might interest him. He likes games in which you develope skill and experience, and progress through a learning curve etc. I think this is right up his street ;)
