There was someone with a problem who said he could only search ip's ... not url's and I have same problem. Can anyone tell me how the problem was resolved? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its probably a problem with your DNS server or DNS configuration. Consult your ISP.
I spoke with Time Warner my ISP, Linksys & Gateway for quite a long time and was unable to find anyone with enough knowledge to solve the problem. I am in agreement that it must be a DNS issue, however, it is beyond my expertise so far.

Control pane; -> Network connections -> right click NIC and choose Status
Is there IPs shown under DNS servers?
Check your configuration too and see if the IP of the DNS servers are manually set or set by DHCP.
Right clicking the connection and doing repair may help.
