I have been writing apps for the business forms manufacturer industry for a little over 40 years. Started off a little before DOS using the early copy of Basic all the way to Quickbasic before converting to Windows and VB6. 18 employees and over 100 apps at one time. I forgot the major ingredient for success ( Microsoft Obsolescence )and closed the business in 2002 after investing all profits into windows programmers. Refused to move to NET, stopped enhancing the apps and now only maintain the old apps which I am finding more and more hard to do as it seems that Microsoft is putting a lot of effort into making it harder to use VB6.

Welcome!

Hi there and welcome to DaniWeb! Thank you for sharing your story. Been there, done that. After 20 years of working on DaniWeb, it's really hard to not get stuck in the mentality of don't fix what ain't broke, and wanting to continue doing what has worked so well in the past. Unfortunately, that's a really easy way to get left behind, especially in the tech space.

Good luck on your next venture!

Welcome to this forum! You seem to have a lot of expertise making business forms and are making the switch to building apps.
