Although my question pertains to Action script it could apply to any scripting/programming language. (I hope you coding purists don't beat me up for putting a slash between scripting and programming :) ).

Anyhoo, as I am taking on the Actionscript 3.0 challenge I was wondering if anyone thought it would be redundant or efficient to use pen and paper prior to software. In other words, is it more efficient to write out not only what I want to happen or write down the code for it on paper so I can manually edit or just as good if not better to just goto (yes, pun intended) Flash and start scripting when needed?

I think it's good to start with pen/paper. When starting a new application I always do this, so I can collect my thoughts on how to handle things. Sometimes it's a flow diagram, sometimes data, often just random thoughts. If it turns out to be useless, I cross it out, so at least I can see later I've thought about it in a specific way.
