I used to think they would draw people in and stay at my site longer. I would program the little guy to read the headlines of my interviews every week...
Soon, the novelty wore off and I killed my little spokesman....
Anyone feel though, that it helped to increase or maintain traffic?

I personally dont care for them. I think they were originally a nice element to have on your site but as time wore on they are more annoying to me as a consumer.
I dont see to many sites using them anymore but I would think they would have no affect on inreasing or maintaining traffic. Because people are not going to come to the site more often because you have the sitepal
People are going to come to your site because you have great content! :)
