I have a Toshiba Satellite 1410 which I booted up this morning and to my dismay the screen was blank.

Upon further investigations (ripping it to pieces) it seems that the backlight has gone :(, I can still see images etc if I hold the laptop up to a light, so the screen itself does not seem to be dead.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a cheap (ish) replacement?

The code for the LCD screen is
LQ141X1LH83

and was manufactured by Sharp.

And help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Sean

Try the inverter before screen replacement. If the backlight tube is bad We can replace these alot cheaper than buying a new screen.

Thanks for the tip ikenfixit.

Can you give me a rough estimate on how much it could cost to replace the inverter.

I have a Tosh Satellite 1410.

Thanks.

I'll do some digging and see if I can find one.. You should be able to swap this yourself if youve already torn into it! I'll check E-bay for the part..

No luck finding an inverter on E-bay.. I will call a PC shop I do repairs for in Story City IA today he deals in Toshibas should have one.
