This model of laptop came with 512 MB RAM (2 x 256 MB) and the manual said that the max RAM allowed is 1 GB. However, when I went to get it installed, the technician installed a generic 1 GB RAM and there was one slot still empty. So, he installed the one leftover 256 RAM. This made the total installed RAM as 1.25GB where as the manual says maximum of 1 GB. I mentioned this to the technician but he seemed very confident that it does not what the manual say about max. RAM, it would not make any difference to the laptop. All this happend 2 months earlier and system was fine till today.
Now, whenever I start the laptop makes some noice for a fraction of second, all the 3 lights (on near the power button) becomes steady green (no blinking) at the same time and stay like that. Following is what I have done:-
[a] Exchanged the positioning of memory in the slots. Tried 3 different memorys in both the slots. I installed them in 2 at a time and also one memory at a time in both the slots. I mean, I tried every possible combination of memory (s) BUT nothing changed and same result everytime - 3 steady green lights!!!!!
Tried it on battery only, then with power adapter (battery in slot), and finally with ONLY power adapter , but still same result - no change and 3 green lights!!
Can ANYONE PLEASE help me with this?
Thanks a lot
