Hello

I intalled a new hdtv capture card to my pc and i'm pretty sure it got damaged by a static shot through the my house airel. My pc now reboots itself pretty randomly it sometimes gets to the welcome screen and sometimes boots up all the way, then some times doesn't make it post.

Its not the ram, its been tested in another machine - ok

Its not the video card

The error i get mostly during boot up is overclocking error or cmos error but i have cleared bios and occassionally the pc boots correctly.

My question is it possible for a motherboard to damage a power supply. I have narrowed the probelm to either motherboard, CPU or power supply. But i don't want to connect a new power supply to the pc if it is going to blow it up straight away. My guess is that the problem is either the power supply or the motherboard. Fingers crossed its the power supply but the cmos error makes me think otherwise.
