when i plug in my USb 120 gb HD into the usb slot ,my computer recognizes it but later displays that there was problem in hardware installation.
It works fine in some other computers.

You might need to update your usb drivers or through your OS updates itself. (i.e. winxp updates) Otherwise, you need to install the driver of your usb HD. (if any)
