I cracked the display on my 2006 iMac, and I'm trying to setup the computer so that I can use a second display as my main display. The problem, of course, is that I cant see my menu bar or my main desktop since the primary display is broken. I picked up a min DVI to DVI adapter and a second display, but when I hook them, up I just get more desktop space. How do I configure the mac to use the second display as the main display?

Your best bet is to borrow another Mac from someone and do a screen sharing via iChat. You should be able to see what's on the main screen. Then you can open System Preferences and go to Displays. Select the "Arrangement" tab and check "Mirror displays". Now your second screen will reflect what's on your main screen.
