My Gateway laptop froze at the screen saver. I restarted and hit F11 during boot up to go to restore with backup. It did backup data and files but when applic. were reinstalling it froze at 17/73 (something called "wild tangent') Any ideas for a solution?

Wild Tangent is a web site. Fouled up downloads? Malware?
connect your hard drive to a usb adapter, back up your files, and do a destructive restore (I think that's what they call it).
