hp p6257 brand new. my usb ports sometimes don't seem to recognise my periferals. i can sometimes correct it by unplugging them but, it's a pane.

Click Start -> Run, type Devmgmt.msc, click OK.
In the Device Manager window, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Right-click a USB Root Hub in the list, and then click Properties.
In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab, clear the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box, and click OK.
Do this for each USB Root Hub in the list!
On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes (the device should be found).
Close the Device Manager window.
