— sorry to hear this, and I know it feels urgent with grades on the line. is right to ask for the laptop make/model; that helps identify the display-toggle key and service guides. is also on the right track — an external screen is one of the fastest isolation checks. To help you and others diagnose this quickly, try the steps below and report back the model plus what you see (power LED, fan noise, HDD activity, any beeps).

  • Make / model and signs: tell us the exact laptop model and whether any LEDs, fan or HDD activity happen when you power it up.
  • Power/hard reset: remove battery and AC, hold power 15 seconds, reconnect AC only and try to boot.
  • External display: connect VGA/HDMI, power on, and press the display-toggle key (look for a monitor icon on an Fn-key). If the external shows the BIOS/POST, the problem is the laptop panel, cable, or backlight.
  • Backlight check: in a dark room shine a bright flashlight at the screen at an angle. If you see a faint image, the inverter/backlight is dead; if nothing is visible, suspect the panel or LVDS cable.
  • Reseat basics: if comfortable, reseat RAM modules and HDD/SSD; bad RAM can give a black screen even while fans run.
  • Beep codes / BIOS: note any beeps at startup and report them — they map to hardware faults.

Cautions: avoid poking the display cable or inverter if you are not experienced; static or snapped connectors can make things worse. If you post the model and the exact symptoms above, we can give the next targeted step.

What laptop is it? HP by any chance?

Connect an external monitor check if the display is coming. if the display ok on external monitor, then it is problem with your Laptop monitor, if the display does not comes on extenal monitor, problem with your display card
