i currently have 1 gb of ram and am running and amd athlon 64 3000+ with a geforce 6600 256 mb card.and was wondering if i boosted the ram to 2 gb would it make a huge , medium , small or negligible difference.in other words should i boost it or not.and i am boosting it should i buy 2 512 mb chips or a 1 gb chip?.

It all depends on what you're doing.
If you're gaming, depends on the game. If you're doing heavy video/photo editing, it might make a difference. But, truth be told, no matter what you do RAM-wise on that system, you're probably not going to notice it. It still takes a LOT of stuff to fill up 1GB of RAM.
