My laptop which is an HP pavilion ze5500 has a corrupted BIOS. After i flashed the BIOS the computer doesn't start up. I took it to a technician. he says i have to pay $400 for a new motherboard. does anyone know anything I can do to startup the laptop without having to pay.

The technician is kind of right, the motherboard needs replacement. Some people have spoken of otherways to try and fix it, but its really a no go.

But, did you get a warrenty with your laptop? HP will repair it free if you do have one.

If you dont have the warrenty and you your only choice is to repiar it, i would maybe suggest that you dont get the part, but buy a new laptop, and part off the old one. Your screen alone will easily get you over $200, hard drive $40, ram $40, keyboard $15, wifi card $10, rom drive $40, palmrest with touch pad $25. Add that with the 400 for a new motherboard and you can get an $800 brand new laptop. If i was in that position, this is what i would do.
