I have an old PowerBook 5300 that won't start up.
The battery is probably dead. I haven't used the machine in a very long time. I tried letting it charge overnight but it doesn't even get warm.
I removed the battery but it still won't start up with the ac power adapter.
The first time I inserted the power cord I heard some crackling noises as if it were loading and the screen came on but only a redish band on either side.
The next time the green light came on but no loading noise nothing on screen.
I pressed the reset button numerous times, pressing down 30 seconds etc .
Turned it on but nothing no sound no nothing.
Let it sit for a few days, turned it on, green light came on, got crackling noise but no loading noise and nothing on screen.
I should just throw it away but I'm curious as to what's going on with it.
Anybody have any ideas?
