I am going to be buying a new machine and the hard drive will be SATA.

I want to transfer my storage drive from my previous machine which is IDE. (I want to run a SATA and IDE together, the SATA being the operating system drive).

Would somebody be able to advise me on the steps I should take to achieve this?

Also will the IDE drive slow down the computers boot process and will it be accessed quickly?

Any help much appreciated

For the sata and the ide hdd to be sharing.U need to set the device configuration from the bios setup.In bios no display for the sata hdd.So your ide will be the master.Go to device configuration.Set the first boot device from sata hdd.You will see on your windows on the sata will have tour ide hdd drive.Make sure you install windows on your sata hdd.
