Why would someone buy a ide external case instead of a sata one? Wouldn't it be faster with a sata drive?

I know i've chosen an IDE enclosure before now, as opposed to SATA. Primarily because I only had an IDE drive at the time, but also becuase the IDE was cheaper.

Also i think on the speed note, I think an IDE works at 100-150Mbps, whereas SATA runs at 300Mbps. So the SATA is faster.
