I have a 5 year old desktop computer which had workded well until the hard drive (C) was reformatted to get rid of unwanted programs, data, and a suspected virus infection. I made a 3.5 system disk and can boot from the A Drive. I would like to now reinstall XP Pro. My problem is that when I try to switch to the previosly installed CD Drive (D) the system gives me a device not found message. If I put a CD in the drive it spins, but does not read the CD. How do I get the system to once again recognize the CD Drive (D)? Thanks.

hi, try to check the cmos setup, if the cmos can detect your cd rom then it could be that your installation cd is defective, however, if the cmos wasn't able to detect your cd rom then maybe its faulty..
