Here's my problem:
My PC eventually starts making optical drive related problems. Looks like ASPI layer issue, but it isn't. I have ASPI layer tools and utilities and they don't help. Nero has it's own ASPI layer, and reinstalling complete Nero (7.10) doesn't help. I am missing something here, and am opened for suggestions.
My current issue is with multissesion burning and DVD-rewritable erasing They are recognized as DVD ROMs in Nero, but bare in mind that the were correctly recognized before, as rewritable disks. Not Nero nor any other software can erase my rewritable disks. They have been burned once or twice max, so they are not burned too many times. I don't know if there is a time limit to those guys, but 1.5 years isn't long if you store them well.
I, also, burned one CD as multisessioned disc, but after wards it was shown as read-only. I didn't test it on other machine, so I am not certain if it is mis-recognized as read-only (probably is), or really is read-only. To tell you the truth, that isn't my concern here. I just want to know a way to fix this.
Only way to fix this, that I know of, is to start from scratch. Whole OS. Not an appealing thought.
I had similar problem before, only more serious. The registry entries regarding red-book service were somehow deleted. DVDs were recognized as CDs, video DVDs were not recognized as such, Audio CDs also not recognized as Audio CDs, but as regular CDs, while Nero worked like a charm, burning DVDs without problems. I didn't burn any rewritable disks then.
I think that the history is repeating itself, only in smaller dosages.
Pioneer 110D
NForce4 Chipset (ASUS A8N Sli)
XP Pro SP2 up-to-date
ASPI Layer v 4.71
Those rewritable disks (Traxdata) ARE tested (burned, erased and burned again) on this hardware. I did that myself.
What am I missing?
