I first start my Windows XP, and then turn on my HP monitor.

The monitor light is green, but soon turns orange to signal a standby mode.

The computer itself appears to be running constantly because the orange light is being constantly lit.

But the computer runs very quietly, but does not seem to be doing anything.

Any suggestions at all would be appreciated.
